sPONSORS
Born in Bradford is a world-leading research programme that aims to find out what keeps families healthy and happy. We use this information to work with the local authority, health, education and voluntary sector providers across Bradford district and nationwide, to develop, implement and evaluate ambitious programmes to improve population health. We have a vast ‘city of research’ infrastructure which includes detailed health and wellbeing information on our participants enrolled in our three birth cohort studies, and a connected routine dataset of health, social care and education data for over 700,000 citizens living in Bradford and Airedale.
Families involved in Born in Bradford have already helped us to understand the harm of diesel fumes and enabled us to lobby to fit pollution filters on our buses to get cleaner air. They have helped us to show the benefit of green space – parks and gardens – and so design better and greener environments. They have helped to show how diabetes starts very early in life, and contributed to improved detection in younger people. Our robust data is available for other researchers, policy makers and stakeholders to apply to use in order to answer other important research questions locally and nationally.
